Earthquakes in the United States M1.5 or Greater Today
New Mexico, New Jersey, and Texas Experience Tremors

On Wednesday, July 27th, several earthquakes occurred in the United States with magnitudes of 1.5 or greater.
New Mexico
At 9:21 am MST, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck 22 km SW of Jal, New Mexico. No injuries or damages were reported.
New Jersey
At approximately 6:00 pm ET, a magnitude 2.5 aftershock rattled New Jersey, with an epicenter about four miles southwest of Gladstone. This aftershock follows the larger magnitude 4.7 earthquake that occurred in the area on July 24th.
Texas
A small earthquake with a magnitude of 2.5 shook north Texas early Wednesday afternoon, according to the US Geological Survey. The epicenter was located near Bowie.

While earthquakes can be unsettling, it's important to remember that most are minor and cause little to no damage. The United States Geological Survey recommends that all residents be prepared for earthquakes by having an emergency plan, assembling an emergency kit, and knowing what to do during an earthquake.
