Inter Milan Stadion

San Siro Stadium: A Historic Landmark with Two Names

A Stadium with a Double Identity

The iconic football stadium in Milan, Italy, known as the San Siro, holds a unique distinction. The stadium bears two official names, depending on the loyalties of its fans. While Internazionale fans affectionately refer to it as the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, AC Milan supporters proudly call it the San Siro.

The Meazza Legacy

The stadium's official name, Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, pays homage to the legendary Inter player Giuseppe Meazza. Meazza spent two decades with Inter, from 1927 to 1947, and scored an astonishing 284 goals. In recognition of his illustrious career, the stadium was dedicated to his memory in 1980.

The San Siro Neighborhood

While the stadium's official name honors Meazza, it is also widely known as the San Siro. This name derives from the neighborhood in which it is located. The San Siro district is synonymous with football, as it is also home to the training grounds of both Inter and AC Milan.
