A Cinderella Story In Baseball

Kevin Kiermaier: From Rookie to All-Star

A Cinderella Story in Baseball

Kevin Kiermaier, the Toronto Blue Jays' center fielder, has had a remarkable journey to the top of professional baseball. Kiermaier's Major League Baseball (MLB) career began in 2013 when he made his debut with the Tampa Bay Rays at just 23 years old. Since then, he has become an All-Star, awarded multiple Gold Gloves, and is considered one of the best defensive center fielders in the league.

Early Career

Kiermaier's path to the MLB was not a traditional one. He played college baseball for three years at Parkland College in Illinois, a Division II junior college. Nevertheless, he made a name for himself with his exceptional fielding and led his team to the Division II Junior College World Series championship in 2009. After being drafted by the Rays in 2010, he spent time in the minor leagues before making his MLB debut in 2013.

MLB Success

In his first full MLB season, Kiermaier established himself as a defensive standout. He won his first Gold Glove Award in 2015, and has gone on to win three more. Known for his incredible range and acrobatic catches, Kiermaier has consistently ranked among the top defensive players in the league. In addition to his defensive accolades, Kiermaier has also made a mark offensively, hitting for a solid average with occasional power.

All-Star Honors

Kiermaier's exceptional performance culminated in his first All-Star selection in 2017. He has since been named an All-Star three more times, further solidifying his status as one of the best all-around players in baseball. Kiermaier's story is a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and the belief in one's own abilities.
