New York Mets acquire All-Star Starling Marte from Washington Nationals
The New York Mets have acquired All-Star outfielder Starling Marte from the Washington Nationals in exchange for a package of prospects, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan on Tuesday.
Marte, 33, is a four-time Gold Glove winner and two-time Silver Slugger who has been one of the most consistent hitters in the National League over the past decade.
Marte provides Mets with much-needed boost
The Mets have been looking to upgrade their outfield all offseason, and Marte fills that need perfectly.
He is a switch-hitter who can play all three outfield positions, and he has averaged 20 home runs, 25 stolen bases and a .310 batting average over the past five seasons.
